Advanced Table Properties
|
|
Let’s take this opportunity to cover just a few more details about table properties. Right-click inside any one of the cells you have just created. Then choose “Edit Table” in the quick menu. |
|
This will bring up the “Edit Table Properties” pop-up box shown here, with drop boxes to modify the properties of the cell you just right-clicked in.
First, notice the three selections at the bottom of this box, which we have circled. Depending on which of these is selected, you will see a set of drop boxes used to change the properties for the cell you are in, the whole row of cells, or the entire table. Use them to further customize the look of your content.
To make your table invisible, click on “Table”, to bring up the “Table Properties” set of drop boxes, as shown below. Enter "0" in the field for "Border Size". You may also make your border "0" when you create a table.

Any text inside a table will be seen over the table background, which default to white. Websites pages will typically have a white background anyway, but we offer you the choice to have many different colors behind your text. If you do choose a color besides white, you can make the background of your table invisible by changing the top drop box here to “Transparent”.
Click on “Apply” at the bottom to update your table properties, and you will see when you view your website, that the table outline is now gone.
We have barely given you a glimpse at the incredible flexibility these tables offer. Yet even with just the basic knowledge you now have, and a bit of practice, you can control |

the overall look and content of your pages, and achieve pleasing results. Still, the more you develope your skills using them, the more professional and beautiful your pages will become.
Tip - you will likely find it easier to control your content better by creating multiple simple tables next to or on top of each other, as opposed to multi-row and multi-column tables. You can even create tables within tables.
At this point in the tutorial, we will be moving into a few final areas used to modify the overall look of your website. The page creation and content editing areas you have just learned are the most important for the creation of your website, and evolving it later as needed. We trust by now you are already beginning to feel the empowerment we mentioned. Feel free if you wish to become more familiar with the tools you have already learned up to this point now, and continue on when you are ready.
By now, we hope you feel familiar with the content editing areas we have been using. In case you do decide to spend some time practicing now, but get lost, return to the page content editing windows by clicking on "Manage your Site", then "Body", and finally choosing the page name from the drop box at the top of the next screen. |
|
When you are ready, click again on "Manage your Site", then "Body", and "Proceed".
